What Is EPAT / Shockwave Therapy?
EPAT — Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology — is a form of shockwave therapy. It is an evidence-based, innovative treatment option for people suffering with chronic and acute musculoskeletal injuries. Shockwave works to eliminate pain, decrease inflammation, and restore mobility.
Beneficial effects of EPAT are often experienced within the first few sessions for many patients. For others it can take a bit longer, but results are consistent and lasting.
Session Duration
Treatment sessions typically take around 10 minutes, depending on the problem and area being treated.
Treatment Frequency
Typically one or two sessions per week for 3–5 weeks, depending on the diagnosis.
Side Effects
Shockwave typically does not produce any side effects. Some patients may experience minor soreness or redness around the treatment area, which usually resolves within a few days.
